Meet Our Teachers
Portia White
Founder
Portia White always had a passion for helping children and families. After completing a degree in Home Economics, she taught high school for several years in Longview, Washington. It was not until shortly later, Portia decided to specialize in Childhood Development and opened an in-home daycare with her husband, Marshall. From Longview to Arizona and back to Vancouver, Portia was determined to find a house that could be exclusively used for a preschool and daycare. In 1981, she founded Red Robin Preschool and Daycare, one child at a time. Portia’s philosophy was to provide a preschool program while maintaining a family-like atmosphere. She rarely took a day off, but always found a way to support her two children, Jennifer and Kevin. Though Portia has passed on, her dream of a family childcare center continues.
